Our Technologies Ensure Pipeline Integrity Management

Our fleet of in-line inspection tools was specifically crafted to meet the demands of the oil and gas industry. Available as standalone or combination tools for 6” to 36” diameters.

Internal Mapping Unit (IMU)

Utilizes gyroscopes and accelerometers in 3 different directions in collaboration with known locations to assign a GPS coordinate to each feature identified from the pipeline inspection.

High Resolution Geometry

Utilized to detect and characterize pipeline dents, welds, wrinkles/buckles, ovality, maximum and minimum bore, bends, wall thickness changes, etc. The degree of bend can be calculated from this data, as well as dent strain and pipeline movement.

High Resolution MFL

Uses an indirect measurement technique, magnetic flux leakage, to measure metal loss and metal gain i.e. internal and external corrosion, welds, touching metal objects (e.g. weights, metal sleeves), close metal objects (e.g. casings), valves, fittings, gouges, mill anomalies, mid-wall lamination, wall thickness changes, wrinkles, dents, etc. Download tool specs


This will provide the oil and gas industry with a lightweight, short-body in-line inspection (ILI) system that can reliably detect axial cracks in small to medium diameter, low-flow, difficult-to-inspect pipelines. Each tool is specially designed to be of minimal length, featuring high collapsibility, 1.5D bend navigation, and full bidirectionality. Our initial EMAT tool fleet including, 8’’, 10”, 12”, 14”, and 16” will be commercialized over the 2nd half of 2021.

Hard Spot Detection & Analysis

Hard spot failures are a known occurrence in the pipeline industry, specifically affecting pipelines of certain manufacturers and vintages. Also, certain gas pipeline regulations require hard spot assessments: Reference CFR §192.632 and §192.710. Hard spots have a high hardness, which makes them more prone to brittle fractures. If hydrogen is present, hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC) can occur. QI2 Elements has developed a fleet of large diameter hard spot tools (16’’ – 36’’) to identify and characterize hard spots, helping you successfully manage this potentially injurious manufacturing defect.
